My back to school playlist

I know everyone going back to university is a little nervous, at least I know I am, but something that always helps me with my anxiety is music. I am no musician, so playing an instrument or something like that just stresses me out more. However, I love to listen to music. Especially when I'm getting ready to do something that generally scares me.

I'm just going to share some of the songs that I have really been vibing with lately.

I hope that by posting this you guys can get to now me a little more and hopefully find some new music that you enjoy!

1. Cross My Mind by A R I Z O N A
I saw this band live when they opened for Panic! at the Disco and I immediately fell in love with this song. It's a love song but, honestly its really a jam. There's also remixes of it if you're looking for something with more of a dance vibe.

2. Burn the House Down by AJR
This song honestly just lifts my spirits so much. I don't know if its the awesome horn part or the words, but I love it. It makes me feel like no matter what, I can just keep working hard and getting stuff done.

3. Summertime Magic by Childish Gambino
This song is kind of relaxing. I don't listen to a lot of Gambino's music but this song is so easy to listen to, and it reminds of summer even though school is starting up again. It's a good way to remind me of the summer and relax a little

4. Old Fashioned by Panic! at the Disco
This song reminds me to stay young. University is making me so stressed and has me feeling like I'm not ready to be an adult. But this song hypes me up to still be young! It reminds me to have a good time while I'm here

5. Is Your Love Enough by Little Mix
Being from the United States, there isn't as much hype around Little Mix and their music, but I've been a fan from the beginning. In fact, my friends and I tried to start a band called Little Angels because we wanted to be like them so bad. This song is so fun to listen to! And their vocals are freaking amazing, as always.

6. Freaking Out by A R I Z O N A
Another A R I Z O N A song. I honestly have fallen in love with this band since seeing them live. But this song is one I can really relate to. It kind of explains how I feel when I have anxiety. It just makes me feel like I'm not alone and simultaneously makes me feel a little better.

7. Good Vibes (feat. Tove Styrke) by ALMA
Just read the name of the song. That's exactly what this song is. It's just a feel good song to get you ready for the day.

8. Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! at the Disco
I'm sure you guys know by now that I'm a huge Panic! fan. And this song is another one of my favorites. It's fun to listen to and will definitely make you feel good about yourself instead of being hecka stressed about life.

9. successful by Ariana Grande
This song is off of her new album. I have never been a huge Ariana fan, but I will always give new music a chance, and this song is a great find. It's all about young female empowerment and that's exactly what I'm here for.

10. Side Effects by The Chainsmokers
I've always been a fan of The Chainsmokers. Their songs are entertaining and fun to listen to. Especially this one because it has the singing part and then a little rap part that's super fun to jam to in the car.

My favorite movies of the summer

With summer coming to a close, I thought I'd share some of my favorite movies that came out in the last few months.

I go to movies quite often, it's one of my favorite things to do. I typically go see movies with my boyfriend. We love to hang out and watch a new movie, plus, its FREE because he works at the movie theatre. Since it's such a deal we usually go about once a week.

These movies are in no particular order, and I'm not necessarily writing a review. Just sharing why I loved them and some reasons why I would recommend each movie.

Incredibles 2

I absolutely loved this movie! I have always been a huge fan of Pixar films and the first Incredibles movie was one of my favorites as a kid. The movie is filled with entertaining action and the love story between the parents is so heartwarming and refreshing. Not only is the story amazing, but the characters from the first movie only got better in the second. The character development is so much fun to watch, especially watching Jack Jack grow! I'm fairly certain that if you grew up on Incredibles and other Disney Pixar films, you will love Incredibles 2.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Listen, I've never been a huge fan of Star Wars. My dad always had me watching Star Trek instead. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this movie. Before this I had only seen The Last Jedi. I liked that one and was anxious to see Solo. I don't know any sort of Star Wars back story, I mainly just see the movies to enjoy them. This one was highly entertaining, and really, Donald Glover is one of my favorites. Not only was the movie great, the movie theater had some great merchandise to give out. I got some pins with the iconic quotes, "Never tell me the odds" and "Best in the galaxy". I recommend this movie to pretty much anyone, Star Wars fan or not.

Deadpool 2

Okay, y'all, this movie is absolutely hilarious. I had to see it twice because I most definitely fell asleep both times, but trust me it's so funny. Even if you just put it on in the background while you're working or something, I would say it's worth it. The plot of both the Deadpool movies are not very deep, which is why they are so funny. It's a good movie to watch if you want to laugh and also look at Ryan Reynolds for 2 hours.

Action Point

This film is a great one to go see with some friends on a night out. It's not very serious and will absolutely give you a good laugh. However, I would not recommend going to see it with kids or anyone super young/immature. There are a lot of inappropriate jokes that are not suitable for younger ages. Despite this, it's really funny and tells an oddly relatable story of a strained father daughter relationship. It has some more serious undertones, but the "failed" stunts are hilarious and lighten the mood.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

I'm pretty sure that anyone who is a fan of musicals and Meryl Streep will enjoy this film. It's entertaining and definitely brings out the nostalgia. The songs are fun and you'll probably find yourself singing along to the ones you know. Or fan-girling over Colin Firth (same, girl. Don't be embarrassed). The only downside I saw in the movie, was how long it is. This could absolutely be a personal problem, as my attention span has never been very long. Possible spoiler alert ahead. I think the movie should have ended after Fernando. Despite my feelings about the length, it is a fantastic and entertaining movie.

Alright, those are my top 5 movies of the summer! If you haven't seen any of them, drop a comment when you do and tell me what you thought of them. Or comment below your thoughts on any of these movies. Thanks for reading!

Much love, Mya.

Blogging and Starting University

Like most other kids/teens/young adults, I am starting school and a new job next week. Which is super scary. It'll be my first year at University. I am excited and also terrified, but ready to give it my all and have fun at the same time.

School is daunting on its own, but blogging is like having another job. I plan to continue to do it because I have met so many amazing people and I'm genuinely enjoying myself. However, I will be way busier. I have to go to school full time, work at my new job, and find time to blog. While I don't plan on writing any less, that may be the case.

Even though that may happen, simply because of my lack of time, (studying, work, school, my health), I still plan on being active on social media.

Speaking of social media, I'm planning on linking my instagram soon! Get ready!

I know this was a short post, but I wanted to put it out there. I know there's lots of other bloggers and media influencers going through the same thing.

Much love, Mya.

Why I wanted to start a blog

Starting a blog or some sort of social media where I can connect and write to people in a meaningful way has always been a dream of mine. I've tried in the past and have never been completely dedicated, thus not succeeding and eventually deleting the blog entirely. However, since I've recently graduated high school and had a lot of free time on my hands, I realized how much I enjoy writing, and how many things interest me. There are so many things that I want to do and share with people, a blog seemed like a good idea to me. I am more dedicated now than I have ever been before, and I am so excited to see where this takes me.
I have so many goals for this blog and I think it's important to share them, so that I am more likely to stick to them. First, I want to connect with a community of people. So far, my experience with the blogging community has been amazing. Everyone has been so kind and helpful. I couldn't be happier with where I am so far. Second, I want to learn more about formatting and layout. (I need help, if anyone's available) This is such a process for me. I've made websites for classes and portfolios, but I've never done something solely to be creative and express myself. Third, I want to grow a following that I can connect with on a level more personal than social media. It's important to me to have followers that want to interact with me and learn about my interests, while I'm doing the same.
Long story short, I wanted to create a blog to express myself in a way that doesn't scare me as much as other social medias do, and connect and learn about other people.
There are so many reasons that people may want to start a blog. Regardless of your reason, I recommend just going for it! There is a huge community of people out there to help you. It's scary, but I'm sure that it will be worth it.

Much love, Mya.

I went to a concert

Hey, everybody! It's me again. Here to write about my experience at the Panic! at the Disco concert. If you don't know who they are, I highly recommend listening to their music. They've been around for a long time, and I honestly love each album, despite them all having a slightly different style.  I've listened to this band since I was little, when my sister would play them in the car, so I'm fairly familiar with all the older songs. Plus, I have a sincere connection with the newer albums since they came out while I was discovering my own music taste.
The concert was so full of excitement from Brendon Urie himself and the crowd as a whole. I sat it the upper section of the arena, and my ears were ringing from all the screaming.  It was amazing to be  around people that love the same music as me. Not only that, but the performance was so action packed. There were longer transitions between songs, but only to allow time for Brendon to get set up for another amazing song. He did backflips, sang on a moving piano above the crowd, and even his band got in on the action with dances and guitar battles.
As far as my own personal experience, it was amazing. I, sadly, only took one picture the whole night. I decided before Panic! came on, that I was going to really experience and enjoy the entire concert, without the distractions of snapchat and taking amazing pictures. I don't necessarily regret my decision, because I feel like I did fully experience the night and danced as much as I could. It was actually really good to just watch everything unfold and take in the night as a whole. Another cool thing about not being distracted the whole time was being able to really feel the music and connect with songs that I hadn't heard in a while that mean so much to me.
Overall, I had a great night listening to some awesome music with my boyfriend and sister. If you haven't heard any of their songs I'll list some of my favorites

  • Hallelujah
  • Dying in LA
  • High Hopes
  • Victorious
  • Nine in the Afternoon
These songs are all so good! Go check them out!
Thanks for reading!
